In the Andean culture these three animals were considered sacred: condor, puma, and amaru/snake. According to the Andean cosmovision, three worlds are in a perfect union, Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha, and Uku Pacha.
According to the Andean Cosmovision, the universe is unified by the three worlds
- HANAN PACHA, the upper world, represented by the Condor.
- KAY PACHA, the living world- physical world, represented by the Puma
- UKHU PACHA, the lower world, represented by the snake (called Amaru)
These three worlds are all interconnected both temporally and spatially. Our ancestors of the Andes, view the Cosmos as a unified entity with three well-divided levels. The energy travels spatially across the three worlds to establish communication and connection among different subjects and objects.
The Andean Cosmovision is a way of perceiving and interacting with reality that has its roots in the traditional, indigenous culture of the high Andes. It is fundamentally different than the Western worldview. The Andean Cosmovision is not primarily about their beliefs, it is about the experience of reality that becomes possible with these beliefs, it is about the relationship with Nature and with the Cosmos that becomes possible with these beliefs. The people of the Andes holds a very strong relationship with nature and the cosmos, living in harmony, respect and love.
